Alabama NFL roundup: Mark Barron leads Los Angeles Rams past Dallas Cowboys

Once an All-American and an NFL starter at safety, Mark Barron made the transition to outside linebacker during the 2015 season. Now he's moved again - this time to inside linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams.

So how's that working out after four games?

Barron made a team-leading eight tackles (seven with the defense and one on special teams) and intercepted a pass in a 35-30 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

The sixth interception of Barron's NFL career originally was ruled a fumble recovery before video review led to a scoring change. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott had been hit while throwing, and the football squirted in a looping arc down the field, where Barron made a diving catch before it hit the turf.

After Barron's 4-yard return, the Rams had the ball on the Dallas 29-yard line with 11 minutes left in the game. They got a field goal for a 32-24 lead out of the turnover.

Barron was a prep star at St. Paul's in Mobile.

Barron was among the 29 former Alabama players who got on the field during the fourth Sunday of the NFL's 2017 season.

Other former Alabama players who started on Sunday included:

  • Wide receiver Julio Jones (Foley) of the Atlanta Falcons caught three passes for 30 yards in a 23-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Jones left the game in the second quarter with a hip-flexor injury and did not return, although he tested the injury before being ruled out.
