Alabama NFL roundup: Mark Ingram joins short Crimson Tide list

New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram became the third Alabama alumnus to run for three touchdowns in one NFL game during a 47-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Ingram joined Shaun Alexander and Billy Jackson as the only former Crimson Tide players to have three rushing TDs in one NFL game.

Alexander had three games with four-touchdown runs and three more with three in piling up 100 in his NFL career.

Jackson (Central-Phenix City) ran for 16 touchdowns in his NFL career, and three of them came in the Kansas City Chiefs' 28-17 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Oct. 25, 1981.

Ingram's performance was the 11th time that a New Orleans player had rushed for three touchdowns in a game.

Ingram finished with 131 yards on 21 carries, making him the third player in the Saints' history with at least 130 rushing yards and three touchdowns in one game, joining George Rogers, who did it in 1981, and Ricky Williams, who turned the trick in 2000.

With his 12th 100-yard game, Ingram is tied with Williams for third on New Orleans' career list. Ingram also lifted his total yards from scrimmage to 6,114, becoming the seventh Saints player to pass 6,000 yards.

Alvin Kamara, who spent a redshirt season at Alabama before transferring, ran for 106 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries for New Orleans, making Sunday's game the fourth in Saints' history with two 100-yard rushers.

"It's a blessing, man. God is good, man," Ingram said. "We just had emphasis on committing to the run for a long time. We've been committing to it offensively -- coaches as a scheme, players buying into the scheme. Receivers, tight end, fullback, and all of the O-line are giving us some good seams to run through, and we are just trying to make it happen."

Even though the Saints were on the road, Ingram saw a fan wearing his jersey and jumped into the stands after his first touchdown -- and got showered with beer by a Bills' fan.

"I got to enjoy his beer, and he had to go buy a new one," Ingram told NBC Sports. "My helmet smelled like beer for the rest of the first quarter."

Ingram was among the 25 former Alabama players who got on the field during the 10th Sunday of the NFL's 2017 season.
