For the first time in his 11-year NFL career, former Penn State linebacker and one of the legendary members of Linebacker U, Paul Posluszny, is headed to the playoffs for the first time.

The man known as “Poz” spent his first four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, but he’s been a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars ever since and has been apart of the their stellar defense this season.

The Jaguars are making their first playoffs appearance since 2007 and are currently sitting atop the AFC South with a record of 10-4 in large part due to the outstanding play of Posluszny and the defense.

Although this will go down as a memorable day for Poz, he wasn’t the only former Nittany Lion standout to have a big day in the NFL.

Robbie Gould continued his outstanding season with the San Francisco 49ers with his second game-winning field goal in the past three weeks.

Very special

COLLEGIAN FILE PHOTO: Freshman Robbie Gould kicks an extra point last week against Wisconsin. The walk-on has hit 13 straight extra points.

The 13-year veteran was a perfect 6-for-6 on field goal attempts on Sunday afternoon, four of which came from 40 yards out or longer, and chipped in an extra point, giving him 19 points on the day.

Gould has made all but two of his 32 field goal attempts this season, which ranks fourth-best in the NFL.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Gould is now one of just two kickers in NFL history that have made five or more field goals in a game three times in a season.
