The Eagles’ final score of the contest was on another touchdown run by Yates, this time for three yards, midway through the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Yates finished the night with a game-high 93 rushing yards.
“I think the keys to our victory was a combination of excellent preparation by the coaches and players and the collective courage of our team’s competitive spirit,” Milton coach Adam Clack said. “I was impressed by how clean both teams played considering it was the first game of the year. On offense, Jordan Yates and Josh Edwards had huge moments supported by our offensive line led by Will Bentley. Defensively, Allen Walker and Zander Barnette really played well applying pressure in the backfield all night. Our special teams were solid as well. We executed on all extra points and we were effective in both the kick off cover and return game helping us win the battle for field position.”
