High school football: Week 2, non-district

The Colonels played Thursday, Sept. 5 and the remainder of the Garland ISD high school teams played Friday, Sept. 6.

 

SGHS defeated by W.T. White HS

 

The South Garland Colonels (0-2) scored 22 unanswered points in the first quarter, but were unable to stop W.T. White’s offense for the rest of the game. The score was W.T. White 50 – South Garland 22. Brandon Wyatt and Jalil Brown scored on 7- and 26-yard runs, respectively, and Deontae Pruitt caught a 26-yard pass from quarterback Demarcus Duncan for a touchdown.  Brown

carried the ball 11 times for 100 yards. Duncan ended the night at 5-18 for 88 yards.

 

NGHS gets win over Irving HS

 

In their 54-21 win over Irving HS, the North Garland Raiders (2-0) put together an impressive 545 yards, 307 rushing and 238 in the air.

 

Duke Parker scored first for NGHS on a 63-yard pass reception from quarterback Timothy Gauthier. Trey Traylor then scored on a 61-yard pass reception. Sabron Woods added three TDs on 19-, 11- and 7-yard runs. Dexter Davis scored

twice on 13- and 5-yard runs and Gauthier took the ball in on a 16-yard run. Gauthier ended the night at 10-11 for 222 yards. Woods rushed for 149 yards on 16 tries. Parker caught four passes for 114 yards.

 

GHS loses to Royse City HS

 

The Garland High School Owls (1-1) were defeated by Royse City HS by a score of 37-14. Jordan Hudson caught two Cergio Perez passes (8- and 34-yards) for the two Owls’ TDs. Jayshon Powers carried the ball 18 times for 107 yards and Perez ended the night at 9-18 for 84 yards.

SHS loses in close contest with Euless Trinity HS

 

The Sachse Mustangs (1-1) were defeated in a 21-19 heartbreaker by Euless Trinity HS in the Cotton Bowl Stadium Prep Showcase. SHS scored first on a field goal by Addison Perez. In the third quarter, J’Shon Henderson caught a 15-yard pass from Parker Wells for a TD. They scored twice in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard field goal by Alex Diaz and a 21-yard pass reception from Wells to Jordan Nabors.

 

Wells ended the game at 13-25 with 151 yards. Shon Coleman carried the ball 16 times for 76 yards and Jordan Nabors caught four passes for 77 yards.

 

NFHS defeated by Arlington Lamar HS

 

The Naaman Forest Rangers (0-2) were defeated by Arlington Lamar HS by a score of 38-0. Quarterback Francisco Beltran completed nine of 20 pass attempts for 105 yards and Devean Deal caught six passes for 85 yards.

LCHS defeated by North Mesquite HS

 

The Lakeview Centennial HIgh School Patriots (1-1) lost to North Mesquite HS 33-14. Zechariah Dunston scored for the Patriots on an 8-yard run and Terrence Davis scored on an 8-yard pass reception from Michael Hierro. Quarterback Jarret Adams ended the night at 6-16 with 101 yards. Dunston carried the ball 13 times for 76 yards.  Ed White caught three passes for 95 yards.
