Social media speculates about free agency clues in J.J. Watt's tweet

J.J. Watt's cryptic tweet on Tuesday resulted in several social media users trying to find clues about his free agency.

CLEVELAND — On Sunday, J.J. Watt took to Twitter to make it clear he wasn't in any rush to pick a free-agent destination.

"I scroll through door dash for like an hour before I pick a restaurant man," Watt replied to a fan asking if he was going to sign soon. "You’re gonna have to give me a second to choose a new team and city."

That, however, didn't stop many on social media from doing their best to read between the lines of his next post, which seemingly had nothing to do with which team he'll sign with after being granted his release from the Houston Texans on Feb. 12.

"Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell," the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year posted to his Twitter account on Tuesday morning.

While Watt's lesson in cell biology didn't have anything to do with football -- at least not on the surface -- many on social media did their best to derive clues regarding where he'll be signing in the days (or weeks) ahead.

As for where Watt will actually wind up, that remains to be seen. In the week-plus since being released by Houston, the five-time first-team All-Pro selection has been linked to a number of contenders, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and yes, the Cleveland Browns.

Last week, BetOnline named Cleveland the betting favorite to sign Watt at -150 odds. That, however, was before he posted about the timetable for his decision and Tuesday's cell biology lesson.
