The Colorado State athletic department unveiled its 30th Hall of Fame class as six green and gold graduates joined a prestigious list of former Rams on Monday.
Headlining the fresh class as 2021’s lone football induction, tight end Joel Dreessen joins CSU’s Hall of Fame following effective careers at both the collegiate and professional levels.
While also proving potent as a blocker, Dreessen operated as a dependable pass-catcher for the Rams from 2001-2004 upon accumulating 123 receptions for 1,295 yards and 10 touchdowns over four seasons in Fort Collins.
As a senior in 2004, Dreessen snatched first-team all-Mountain West honors for the second time of his tenure while garnering All-American honorable mentions from SI.com and Pro Football Weekly.
After graduating from CSU, the New York Jets selected Dreessen with the 198th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
The tight end then went onto construct an eight-year pro career, during which Dreessen accrued 158 receptions for 1,767 yards and 19 touchdowns over 120 games with the Jets (2005), Houston Texans (2007-11) and Denver Broncos (2012-13).
