Tyson Fury doesn't have much left to prove in heavyweight boxing.

In 2015, Fury shocked the world when he went to Germany and completely outboxed one of the greatest of all-time in Wladimir Klitschko.

Afterwards, he fell into a deep depression - putting on over 125lbs and unofficially retiring from the sport, before making one of the great comebacks of all-time.

After being called out by Deontay Wilder, the Gypsy Kind dropped all of the 125lbs that he had put on, before making a comeback against the aforementioned in less than a year.

The first fight would be ruled a majority draw, before Fury came back and defeated Wilder in 2020 and 2021 - in what will go down as one of the greatest trilogies in boxing history.

And with retirement now in question once again, it's not out of the realms of possibility of Fury transitioning to MMA.

Fury has previously hinted that he'll look to fight in the octagon in the future, and shared pictures of him training with UFC superstar Darren Till.

According to John, his father, fans will see his son make the switch to UFC in the future when all is said and done.

If Fury was to move to MMA - who would he face? Here's five men who would be at the top of the list.

Francis Ngannou

Francis Ngannou

The man who holds the official world record for the strongest punch ever recorded, Francis Ngannou has taken over the heavyweight scene in the UFC.

Ngannou has previously called out Fury after announcing his plans to make the switch to heavyweight boxing, with Fury vowing to “smash” the Cameroonian star in response.

Ngannou has just one fight left on his current UFC deal, after which he may look to make his move from the octagon to the ring - where he could fight Fury in a crossover fight.

If Fury was to move to MMA, Ngannou would likely be the biggest box office draw, as well as perfect stylistically for one another.

Ngannou is a stand-up fighter who has little intention of fighting on the ground. The two would likely stand up and attempt to punch each other's face-off!

Ciryl Gane

Ciryl Gane is the closest thing you'll find to Tyson Fury.

Like the Gypsy King, the Frenchman Gane is just built different. He has an unorthodox combination of size, speed, power and athleticism - moving like a cruiserweight whilst walking around at 265lbs.

A knockout artist as shown during in his time in Muay-Thai, Gane would like to stand up and fight Fury - making this a perfect match-up.

Gane is set to fight Ngannou in the UFC in January.

Stipe Miocic

Stipe Miocic

Another perfect match-up for Fury would be former world champion Stipe Miocic.

The American is another stand-up fighter (he has one submission victory in his career) and is a very impressive boxer.

Miocic has outboxed several heavyweight fighters in the Octagon, including Ngannou, Daniel Cormier, Mark Hunter and London-born Alastair Overeem.

Miocic has previously spoken on Fury, stating his style is 'boring' and believes he could out-box him.

Fury said in April 2020: “Stipe says he wants to box me — that would be a good fight for sure."

Greg Hardy

Not long ago, Greg Hardy was one of the best defensive players in the NFL - registering 15 sacks in one season for the Carolina Panthers.

But after a number of legal troubles leading to franchises not wanting to go near him, Hardy begun training in MMA.

In his 12 fights in the UFC, Hardy has gone on to win seven - all via knockout - whilst losing just four against some big names in the division.

Hardy has proven KO power, but lacks any sort of ground-grappling game.

If he were to fight Fury, the two could match up evenly it they chose to stand and strike, like has been the case in his previous fights.

Greg Hardy

Tai Tuivasa

One of most exciting young heavyweights in the division, charismatic Tai Tuivasa could make for a difficult challenge for Tyson Fury in a crossover fight.

Tuivasa, a former boxer, has picked up a number of impressive victories recently - all whilst standing in the pocket and looking for devastating blows with his fists.

He's certainly not the boxer Fury is, and would get dominated by Fury in the boxing ring.

In the octagon though, who knows?
