Married at First Sight Australia fans were left horrified as Layton narrowly missed causing himself serious harm. Layton is currently married to fellow CEO Melinda on the show.

After moving into the SKYE suites together, Layton and Melinda have been adjusting to married life on the show. In their apartment, the toaster apparently broke and Layton took it upon himself to fix it.

His plan to fix it was by sticking a knife in it until he decided that wasn't the best idea. As the toaster began to fume, Layton took it onto their balcony which alerted Melinda.

She came into the room confused and in shock, asking why he thought that would be a good idea. Fans took to Twitter and were equally as confused as Layton explained how the toaster broke.

They were challenged to stare into each other's eyes for five minutes which caused Melinda to slam Layton for not "being in the moment," leading to her storming off.

"When you're ready to be present in this relationship, let me know," she told him.

To make up for his mistake, Layton treated Melinda to a sweet salsa dancing class which left her feeling besotted by his efforts.
