Royce Freeman has signed a contract with the Dallas Cowboys, the team announced Tuesday.

Freeman signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys according to ESPN’s Todd Archer. The team looks to replace the departed Tony Pollard, who signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the Tennessee Titans during free agency.

Freeman ran 77 times for 319 yards and two touchdowns when he played for the Los Angeles Rams in 2023.

Freeman, 28, was a third-round pick (No. 71) by the Denver Broncos in the 2018 NFL draft. He spent his first three seasons in Denver before going on to play for the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans and the Rams.

Freeman joins a crowded but young running backs room in Dallas. He is the most experienced back on the team’s roster, with Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Malik Davis and Snoop Conner the other halfbacks on the depth chart. The Cowboys are expected to select at least one running back in next week’s draft.
