April showers bring May flowers as the saying goes and it is not wrong. The trees are starting to burst, the spring bulbs are up and blooming and it is time to start bringing out the annuals.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Hudson Smith, who celebrated April 27; Sophia Pereira, Clara Rabeni, April 29; Carter Braillard, Ariel Meyer, Savannah Wilson, April 30; Fletcher Foster, May 1; Kevin Castro, Olivia Silva, May 2; and to Cecilia Carletti, Adeline Chandler and Sophia Pimenta, who all celebrate their day today May 3.

My small street has been very active. The kids are back to school, the men playing soccer have been playing every night, parents are coming and staying longer at the playground and my neighbors are here.

Dana Vickey, my next-door neighbor, was here for a few days getting her house ready for summer, and now my neighbors across the street, Chirstina and Chip Hall, are here for a month or so. It is nice to look out and see the lights.

I, along with many I imagine, were worried that we were going to lose the Dairy Queen, as it has not been open. But I am sure you have read that Paul Beeson and Kirsten Anderson are taking it over and we will be having Blizzards this summer. I worked at the original DQ with Dick and Caroline Brown, then for a bit with Tony and Erika, so Edgartown would not be the same in summer without that famous curl. Good luck to Paul and Kirsten and thank you for keeping and old favorite going.

Congratulations to Steve and Ellie Parece who are new grandparents. They have a wonderful granddaughter Lucy Elizabeth Lovett. Her parents are Kristen (Parece) and Michael Lovett. Lucy’s great grandmother is Ginny Carbon. Congratulations to all.

I hope you are able to enjoy the beauty of the apple and cherry trees blooming. They seem to be even more spectacular this year. We are all hoping the hydrangeas will follow suit. It is just nice to see all the colors naturally decorating our town.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
