Maine Football hosts Pro Day
ORONO, Maine (WABI) - The NFL Draft is coming up next month and on Friday the Maine Black Bears held their annual Pro Day.
At least two NFL scouts from the Ravens and Patriots were in attendance.
Ten Maine players took part as they looked to continue their football careers at the professional level.
Players participated in several drills and the top performers in each drill are as follows:
Bench: Jaharie Martin (26)
Vertical Jump: Joe Gillette (40.5)
Broad Jump: Joe Gillette (10.09)
40-Yard Dash: Joe Gillette (4.49)
20-Yard Shuttle: Michael Monios (4.25)
3 Cone: Joe Gillette (7.07)
“I’m just happy to be here, happy to get the opportunity to show off what I can do. Hopefully some people get a good look at it. I’ve been working hard in the past three months since the season ended. I’ve been up here in the cold, so that’s been a challenge. But, you know, just working hard through it,” Gillette said.
The University of Maine has had 24 players make it to the NFL with 17 of them being selected in the NFL Draft.
The most recent was Trevor Bates, a linebacker who was taken in the 7th round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
