In between the imaginary tariff negotiations with China and the “I’m going to run again in 2028″ trolling of the Democrats and the FBI slapping handcuffs on a judge, Donald Trump had time to weigh in on the NFL Draft on Friday night.
And the guy who singlehandedly bankrupted the USFL, then sued the NFL and won three bucks, failed in his bid to buy the Buffalo Bills, and insulted football players who protested for social justice now is an NFL personnel expert.
As he watched Shedeur Sanders slide down the draft board like it was a greased bannister, Trump called the members of 32 front offices and their bosses “stupid” for passing on the Colorado quarterback.
"“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?” he wrote on social media. “Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be “picked” IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”
Not long after came the jokes.
"You know why Trump likes Shedeur Sanders? Because he also hasn’t been drafted," well-known attorney Don Lewis tweeted.
To which someone replied: "If he switched to the NBA Draft, would the Spurs select him?"
(References to Trump ... a) dodging the draft; and b) claiming he had bone spurs in his ankles.)
Comedian Willie Griswold took the joke a step further: “Trump loves Shedeur Sanders. Two guys with successful dads that managed to talk their way out of getting drafted.”
