The Welshman is battling to make the the final 53-man roster at the Jags after being handed a new contract earlier this year. After several months away during the off-season, during which he spent time back in Wales, he is now in Florida preparing for what lies ahead.

Travis Hunter is the man who has stolen the headlines throughout the US over the past couple of days, with the Jags sacrificing other picks to get the talent acclaimed as the best college football player in America.

What makes Hunter unique is his ability to play different positions - an offensive role (wide receiver) and a defensive role - to NFL level, something rarely seen before.

Jaguars general manager James Gladstone said: "You can count however many drafts you want to [and] there are players who have the capacity to alter a game. There are players who have the capacity to alter the trajectory of a team. There are very few players who have the capacity to alter the trajectory of the sport itself.

"Travis, while he has a lot to still learn in our eyes, has the potential to do just that."

Hunter is expected to largely play wide receiver this season, with Rees-Zammit having work to do to find his place on the final 53-man roster at the end of the summer. He spent last season on the team's practice quad after being released by Kansas City Chiefs and was never elevated to the full squad.

Next season will be the real test for him, as he attempts to prove he's good enough to play at the highest level of American football. Since the term ended, he's returned back to Wales to enjoy the off-season with family and friends, as well as doing some travelling to south east Asia with his brother, Taylor.

The NFL's pre-season begins in August, with Rees-Zammit very likely to see game-time. If so, it'll be the first time he has played in an actual game since pre-season last year with the Chiefs.

The NFL schedule for the new season will be revealed some time in May, with Rees-Zammit and Jaguars finding out who they'll be going up against and when those games will take place. This announcement will likely confirm Jaguars' return to playing 'International Games' at Wembley Stadium.

Training camps will then begin in late July, which is essentially where the real pre-season begins. Franchises will then cut their squads to 53, with 17 players on a practice squad, in late August. If Rees-Zammit is not selected here, he will be without a team and become a free agent, ready to be picked up again.
