Will Shedeur Sanders Be Drafted? NFL Teams With Best Chance In Round 2

🎙️ Voice is AI-generated. Inconsistencies may occur.

The Shedeur Sanders saga finally came to an end on Saturday afternoon when he was selected in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns.

For many, it was a massive sigh of relief. In part because there was a national fatigue on the Sanders narrative some some major networks, and to others because they were relieved to see the player come of the board after a wait that was admittedly far too long.

However, based on his celebration, Sanders is a happy camper, dancing with his brother Shiloh on a Twitch stream as soon as the pick became official.

That celebration eventually went viral on X, with the entire Sanders family celebration in the background.

But why did Sanders slide in the first place? Some NFL executives believed that, as a quarterback prospect, he wasn't all that impressive in terms of arm talent or athleticism and that his grade from draft experts was a bit too high.

"I liked him the year before," an anonymous NFC GM told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "They did change coordinators. It just felt different. It felt less athletic, less arm talent -- everything felt less. If you're talking about this year's tape versus (Jaxson) Dart and Shedeur, I don't think it was particularly close."

Other executives complained about his formal interviews, while other NFL experts such as Todd McShay suggested that it may have had something to do with the fan far that came along with his selection.

Either way, it is clear that Sanders could throw the football during his time in Colorado. In his first year in Boulder, Sanders threw for over 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns with only three interceptions to his name. In 2024, he was even more productive leading Colorado to an 8-4 record while passing for 4,134 yards and 37 scores.

Either way, the Saga is now over, and Sanders and his family can celebrate knowing he now has an NFL home.
