With the 132nd pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have selected Ruben Hyppolite II, linebacker from Maryland.

This selection was acquired after a trade back with the Buffalo Bills, and I share a few thoughts on that here.

Hyppolite (5’11”, 236 pounds) ran a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, which would have been the fastest of all linebackers at the NFL Combine. Even if the pro day 40 was off by a fraction (others had him at 4.42), he’s still a speedy linebacker who has agility, as evidenced by his 6.96-second three-cone drill.

He was Maryland’s defensive signal caller and a team captain, and in 2024, he compiled 66 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and an interception. His speed makes him a fit for depth at the weakside linebacker position in Chicago, plus he’s likely to be a core special-teams player.

We’ll record an immediate reaction podcast about the selection, so check that out right here as soon as it publishes from our 2nd City Gridiron channels.
