The Colorado Buffaloes product and son of Deion Sanders was expected to be a first-round pick before he finally heard his name called on Day 3.

Shedeur wasn't even the first quarterback taken by the Browns as they picked Dillon Gabriel in the third round.

The 23-year-old Sanders will have to compete for the starting position against Deshaun Watson, who's injured, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Gabriel.

However, it's been reported by multiple Cleveland media outlets that Sanders will a "legitimate chance to be the starting quarterback for the Browns in the first regular season game in September."

A source close to Sanders also says that the NFL "brought out a villain" in Sanders and will regret making him wait to be drafted, per NFL Rookie Watch.

Fans reacted to the latest reports concerning Sanders on social media.

"I certainly hope that's all true!" one wrote.

"Shedeur will be Offensive Rookie of the year," another commented.

"His ego will blow himself up," a third added.

It's believed that Sanders' reportedly poor pre-draft interviews with teams played a role in his fall.

Tony Romo’s Advice to Shedeur Sanders After Draft Slide

NFL icon Tom Brady revealed he got to talk to Sanders after being drafted by the Browns and sent him advice.

The sixth-round pick who ended up winning seven Super Bowl titles knows what it feels like to see teams pass on you.

"Nobody knows (why Sanders was a fifth-round pick). I actually texted Shedeur because I know him very well," Brady said on Jake and Logan Paul's Impaulsive podcast.

"I said 'dude whatever happens, wherever you go, that is your first day.

"Two matters more than the Draft. I was 199.'"

"Who could speak on that better than me? Use it as motivation, you are gonna get your chances, go take advantage of it.

"... What does it matter, other than an overhyped day where people are selling stories?

"It's an important day, but I have been there on day two when they need to learn a playbook and learn to be part of a locker room."

Sanders will hope to lead a Browns team that finished a poor 3-14 in 2024.
