Mikie Rowe’s header 14 minutes from time was enough to salvage a point for Wexford FC away to Kerry in a game they were second best in for the majority of Colin Healy’s first game on the sideline.
But Healy and Kerry FC will be happy with seven points from their last three games.
Niall Brookwell gave Kerry the lead just before the half-hour mark, but Kerry FC will rue a whole host of missed chances to put the game to bed, none more so than a missed penalty from Sean McGrath.
Stephen Elliott's side will be relieved to end a run of three losses on the bounce, during which his side has been stricken by several injuries and suspensions, whilst Kerry missed an opportunity to win three on the bounce for the first time.
Kerry broke the deadlock in the 27th minute. The play all started with a long throw from Aladesnausi, which, after several different players challenged for it, fell to the feet of Niall Brookwell in the box, who smashed low and hard into the Wexford net, a lead they held into the break.
The first real Wexford opportunity came from a Harnett free kick down the right wing just before the hour mark. The Ireland underage international produced a pinpoint delivery to the head of Rowe, who directed towards goal, but Hiemer got a strong hand to parry from danger.
Just 13 minutes from time, the away side got the equaliser. The initial attempt from Darragh Levingston from the edge of the area was parried into the air by Hiemer, but Mikie Rowe pounced on the rebound and headed into an empty net to take a point back to Ferrycarrig Park.
