Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid was quick to present a significant update at the start of Tuesday's programme.
As the ITV show kicked off, she announced to viewers: "Breaking news, Donald Trump claims a total ceasefire has been agreed between Israel and Iran.
"Overnight, Iran continues to fire waves of missiles at Israel right up until the moment the truce was due to start an hour ago at 5am. We are live in Tel Aviv on this developing story throughout the morning."
Later in the broadcast, Susanna relayed that the US president had disclosed the peace agreement details overnight.
She highlighted Donald Trump's statement, saying: "Warned that both countries had much to lose is, in his words, 'they stray from the road of righteousness and truth'," reports the Manchester Evening News.

Co-host Ed Balls brought up the uncertainty surrounding the ceasefire's effectiveness and commencement, given the mixed messages emerging from the involved nations.
The duo then switched to Good Morning Britain's correspondent Jonathan Swain, reporting live from Tel Aviv.
When Ed probed about the local sentiment regarding the ceasefire's authenticity and durability, Jonathan responded: "Good question Ed, good morning from a rather cautious Tel Aviv.
"In this suburb where I'm stationed this morning, the residents are acutely aware of the destruction caused by these Iranian missiles. The residential buildings behind me were targeted last Monday."

Jonathan expressed hopes for peace with the initiation of a ceasefire, stating: "Hopefully, all of that can now stop because this ceasefire officially started just over two hours ago, but missiles were being fired right up until the wire."
Describing the tense moments experienced firsthand, he said: "A few hours ago, we were woken up here in Tel Aviv to the sound of air raid sirens."
ITV audiences learned about the urgency of the situation when Jonathan recounted that upon hearing the sirens, they promptly entered a shelter, remaining there for an hour until it was safe to emerge.
He continued: "Some of those missiles did make their way through the air defences and hit a resident building in the South. Reports that four people have been killed there this morning."
Good Morning Britain is on ITV1 weekdays at 6am and ITVX
