Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Safety Kurtis Drummond has rejoined the Houston Texans' active roster.

Houston called up Drummond from the practice squad on Saturday. The Texans waived safety Marcus Cromartie in a corresponding transaction.

Drummond, 25, was waived on Oct. 5 when the Texans claimed inside lienback Ben Heeney from the New Orleans Saints. He signed to the team's practice squad on Oct. 5. Drummond has four tackles and a forced fumble in 13 games for the Texans. He joined the franchise as an undrafted free agent in 2015.

He sits behind Andre Hal and Corey Moore at free safety. The Texans have Marcus Gilchrist and Eddie Pleasant manning the strong safety position. Moore has already been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns due to a concussion.

"At the end of the day, I think we preach all three phases playing off of each other. There's no doubt about it," Texans coach Bill O'Brien told reporters Friday. "We expect our defense to go out and play well, we really do. Look, I know we have some injuries we're dealing with, so does every other team, but our defense, we'll go out there and they'll show up and they'll play well and our offense needs to continue to get better."

"So, I think with everybody on the same page as far as what the game plan is and how we're going to play the game, I think if we can do that and start off well, we will play complementary football."

Houston signed Cromartie to the active roster on Wednesday and placed running back Tyler Ervin on injured reserve.
